China turns tough on owners of polluting industry
Worried about rising public anger at pollution, a Chinese minister has warned that owners of polluting industries could be prosecuted and jailed for committing criminal offences.Environment minister Chen Jining said on Friday that the public security bureau, which runs the police force, was being involved in probe into industrial pollution. The government is planning an environment protection tax, and force polluting industries to repay victims.
Bryan Adams says guitar defaced at Egypt airport:
`Summer of 69' singer Bryan Adams claims his entire collection of instruments, including his prized vintage guitar, was “defaced“ by customs officials at an airport in Egypt. Adams, 56, said he was traveling through Cairo International Airport on Tuesday ahead of an outdoor concert at the Pyramids and took to Instagram to show the marking on his 1957 Martin D-18 guitar, worth thousands of dollars.
`Russian media mogul died of blunt force trauma':
A Russian media mogul and former Kremlin aide, found lifeless in a Washington hotel last year, died of blunt force trauma to the head, reports have said. Mikhail Lesin, who helped launch the Russian TV network RT, was found dead in November at the age of 57.He also suffered injuries to his neck and torso, the Washington Post reported, citing the US capital's medical examiner's office.
`London stores sell cow urine alongside food':
Cow urine is being sold alongside food in convenience stores in the UK despite environment experts warning against the practice, according to a BBC report. Plastic bottles filled with cow urine, and marked “for religious purposes“, were found in several London stores which also sold food.
Loud music leads to 5woman brawl on flight:
In an unusual mid-air drama, a fight broke out among five women aboard a Spirit Airlines flight on Wednesday from Baltimore to LA in the US after two of them, believed to be drunk, refused to turn down music from a `boom box'.
