Maulvi Zakir Naik bribed UPA government to sabotage probe?

Did the UPA government sabotage Zakir Naik probe?

On India Upfront TIMES NOW's Editor-in-Chief Rahul Shivshankar discussed: Did the UPA government sabotage Zakir Naik probe?

On Wednesday, TIMES NOW had accessed a confession statement by alleged hate preacher Zakir Naik's closest aide Amir Gazdar which was made before a magistrate under section 164 of CrPC and is therefore admissible evidence. The aide clearly mentions that Zakir Naik sought and received help from Congress leader Digvijaya Singh in 2010.
Digvijaya Singh is a close aide of Rahul Gandhi and one of the Gandhi family's staunchest supporters. Interestingly, even though Zakir Naik was under a cloud in 2010, his aide has revealed that the alleged hate preacher had met two UPA ministers.
These revelations beg a few questions: was the UPA government soft-pedalling Zakir Naik's case? A highly placed officer of the UPA era in the Union Home Ministry told Times Now that the Centre had downgraded the threat posed by Naik to India's internal security. The source has even stated that the Zakir Naik file was redirected to another division within the Union Home Ministry that ensured that the probe against the alleged hate preacher would be put on the back burner.
