Different Jewish groups accepted different lists of sacred books. If “Bible Alone” were biblical, the Jews would have had ONE Bible. They did not. They accepted ONLY the Torah: • Genesis • Exodus • Leviticus • Numbers • Deuteronomy They rejected: • The Prophets • The Psalms • Resurrection of the dead • Angels and spirits This is why Jesus corrected them directly (Matthew 22:23). Five books only. 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗔𝗠𝗔𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗦, 𝗔𝗟𝗦𝗢 5 𝗕𝗢𝗢𝗞𝗦 (𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗬 𝗣𝗘𝗢𝗣𝗟𝗘 𝗝𝗘𝗦𝗨𝗦 𝗟𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗗) The Samaritans, descendants of Israelites left in the north after the Assyrian exile, used the Samaritan Pentateuch. They accepted: • Only the five books of Moses • A different textual tradition • Mount Gerizim instead of Jerusalem They rejected all other Jewish writings. Five books only. IMPORTANT: It was the Samaritan people whom Jesus loved in the Gospel: • The Good Samaritan (Luke 10) • The Samaritan woman at the well (John 4) • Samaritans showed greater faith than many Jews Yet even they had no complete Jewish canon. 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗣𝗛𝗔𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗘𝗘𝗦, 39 𝗕𝗢𝗢𝗞𝗦 (𝗔𝗙𝗧𝗘𝗥 90 𝗔𝗗) The Pharisees were the group that: • Opposed Jesus • Rejected Him as Messiah • Accused Him falsely • Handed Him to be crucified • Rejected the New Testament After: • The destruction of the Temple (70 AD) • The rapid spread of Christianity • Christians using the Septuagint to prove Jesus is the Messiah They reacted by fixing a Hebrew canon around 90 AD. Their canon = 39 books Removed the Deuterocanonical books Rejected the Septuagint Opposed Christian theology THIS is the canon Protestants later adopted. Protestants follow the canon of the Pharisees, the enemies of Christ and the early Christians. 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗦, 𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗡 39 𝗕𝗢𝗢𝗞𝗦 The Essenes lived in Palestine (Qumran) and preserved the Dead Sea Scrolls. Their sacred library included: • Torah • Prophets • Psalms • Deuterocanonical books (Tobit, Sirach, Baruch, etc.) • Other sacred writings (1 Enoch, Jubilees) More than 39 books. தமிழக அரசுத் தரப்பில், ‘கட்டுமானப் பணிகள் 80 சதவீதம் முடிந்து விட்ட நிலையில், இந்த வழக்கு தாக்கல் செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது. 7 கோடி ரூபாய் செலவில் கட்டப்படும் இந்த கட்டிடங்கள் மூலம் மாதம் 7 லட்சம் ரூபாய் வருமானம் கிடைக்கும். இதுபோன்ற பணிகளை மேற்கொள்ள ஏதுவாக அறநிலையத் துறை சட்டத்தில் திருத்தம் செய்ய அரசு நடவடிக்கை எடுத்துள்ளது’ எனத் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டது.

இரு தரப்பு வாதங்களையும் கேட்ட நீதிபதிகள், கந்தக்கோட்டம் முத்துகுமார சுவாமி கோயில் நிலத்தில் மேற்கொள்ளப்படும் கட்டுமானப் பணிகளை தொடர அனுமதியளித்து உத்தரவிட்டனர்.

 Stanford University has cancelled a talk by Thenmozhi Soundararajan, an anti-Hindu radical activist and the Executive Director of Equality Labs. Soundararajan is a Dalit American commentator on religion, race, caste, gender, technology, and justice, and the author of The Trauma of Caste. The talk, titled “Dalit Journalism, Activism & Leadership: Firesidechat with Kavita Devi and Thenmozhi Soundararajan,” was being sponsored by the university's Center of South Asia.

The decision to cancel the talk is being hailed as a victory for Indian Americans who have been fighting against hatred as a result of the false and baseless caste survey from Equality Labs. The report by Equality Labs established a perilous pattern of distorting the Hindu identity through a caste-centered examination carried out by authors who exhibit inadequate comprehension of surveys, a prejudiced outlook towards Hinduism, and a profound lack of knowledge about Varna and Jati.

It is important to understand the context of this decision. Caste is a complex issue in India, and it is often misunderstood and misinterpreted in the West. Caste is barely an issue in North America. Most Hindus living in North America do not even know their caste nor do they subscribe to such a mentality. 

Unfortunately, anti-Hindu activists like Soundararajan often use the issue of caste to attack Hinduism and Hindu identity. This is not only inaccurate, but it is also harmful and divisive. As Executive Director of Equality Labs, she pushed false information 

The cancellation of Soundararajan’s talk is a victory for those who believe in promoting informed and respectful dialogue. It is important for universities to uphold academic integrity and to promote informed and respectful dialogue. Soundararajan’s views are based on misinformation and prejudice, and they have no place in academic discourse. While it is important to have a nuanced and informed discussion about caste, this discussion should not be used to attack Hinduism or Hindus. Universities have a responsibility to uphold academic integrity and to promote informed and respectful dialogue, and Stanford University’s decision to cancel the talk was the right thing to do.
