From "Jambu" to "Jammu"
Legend has it Raja Jambu Lochan saw a tiger and goat drinking peaceably from the Tawi River 
. He founded 'Jambupura' in the 14th century BC, which was changed to Jammu in post 1947 world by the Kashmiri Politicians.
I see a conspiracy behind the change of name as in a History book long back i saw following
“Jammu term was first seen in Taimurnana and there is no other history” .
I was shocked to see this and i am sure every person will be equally amazed . See for yourself
