Dengue Surge: Tamil Nadu Records 15,796 Cases in 2025, Highest in India This Year!
Tamil Nadu has reported a staggering 15,796 dengue cases so far in 2025, making it the state with the highest tally in India this year, along with eight deaths. Health authorities attribute the sharp rise to prolonged monsoon rains and rainwater stagnation, particularly in densely populated urban areas.
Officials report that around 4,000 cases and two deaths occurred just in September and the first week of October, prompting a red alert for districts like Chennai, Tiruvallur, and Coimbatore. Across India, 49,573 dengue cases and 42 deaths were recorded until August, with Kerala experiencing the next highest number of cases and the most fatalities (31 deaths).
The Tamil Nadu Health Department has ramped up monsoon preparedness and door-to-door checks to curb mosquito breeding, claiming the incidence of serious cases and deaths remains under control for now.
