THOOTHUKUDI:
A CSI pastor attached to Sawyerpuram Church was booked for allegedly forwarding a pornographic video through WhatsApp.
The accused was identified as David Gnaniah. Police claimed that the incident happened on Sept 18 when David forwarded the video to a group in which members of the CSI Church and other members of the same community were present. Immediately the group members, including women, expressed their discontent and asked the pastor to behave in social media. One of the members of the WhatsApp group Daniel Paulraj informed one Rajesh Ravichandran, executive committee of CSI Diocese, and Rajesh inquired the issue with other members of the WhatsApp group. When he found that the issue was true he submitted a petition to the SP, Ashwin Kotnis. The SP too probed the issue and when he found that Pastor had sent the video he directed the Sawyerpuram police to file a case against the pastor.
Following SP’s directive a case was filed against David. When the SP was contacted he said the act of sending the video was deliberate and when a group member complained the pastor was booked. When asked whether the pastor would be arrested he claimed that it was up to the investigating officer (IO). The SP would not interfere in the issue. As the accused was in a respectable position immediate arrest might not be made and a proper probe would be conducted, the SP claimed.

Dalit Christians at CSI Madurai yet to see one of their own as Bishop

Dalit Christians at CSI Madurai yet to see one of their own as Bishop

It has been more than six decades and they form 60 per cent of the population, but still Dalit Christians of Church of South India (CSI) Madurai-Ramnad Diocese are unable to support and elect a member of their caste as Bishop.
Dalit Christians of the Diocese are fuming that caste prejudices still exist and one’s caste identity trumps the Christian faith. Elections held to choose the sixth Bishop of the diocese on December 20, 2012 saw a Dalit, Rt. Rev. Baninga Washburn, emerge winner in the first two rounds in which 13 candidates contested, and Rt. Rev. Joseph (member of intermediate caste) came second.
However, it has been five months since the elections were held and Rev. Washburn has not been officially announced as the winner by the Moderator of the Diocese. Previous elections show that the winner of the first two rounds was announced as winners, said a member of the Diocese who wanted to maintain anonymity.
The CSI Madurai Ramnad Diocese was established in the year 1947 and has six districts of Madurai, Dindigul, Virudhunagar, Theni, Sivaganga and Ramanathapuram within its diocese. In its current strength, 60 per cent of Dalits form the congregation and serve as Pastors.
The first Bishop, Leslie Newbigin (1947-59), was from England, while others who held the post since then were from intermediate castes. Rev. Baninga Washburn’s victory in December was well received by the congregation; his win would fulfil the 66-year-old dream of Dalit Christians. However, Dalit Christians who had been silent about the prevailing prejudices have finally come out to publicise this issue and take the struggle forward.
Anbuselvam, writer, researcher on Theology and member, Intellectual Circle for Dalit Actions, Puducherry, told The Hindu that caste is an existing reality in Christian society and a principal social problem in Churches today in the State. Dalits form the majority in the Diocese but still the power politics exists, making it impossible for them to assert against the dominant castes.
Professor David Mosse of School of Oriental and African Studies who has worked on Christians in Tamil Nadu says that for Dalit castes in Tamil society, the Church was important to a new social mobility not only because of the educational and employment opportunities it provided, but along with economic change. Christianity did provide idioms for the expression of autonomy and detachment for caste oppression.
N. J. Gnaniah, a Missiologist, in his paper titled Caste, Christianity, and Cross-Cultural Evangelism Revisted, says that caste is still an undeniable part of Christian society here.

Artefacts, quartz, scrappers and chert stones that were found during excavation at Tamil University campus in Pillayarpatti | EXPRESS
THANJAVUR:Recent archaeological excavation undertaken at the Tamil University campus in Pillayarpatti has pushed back the history of human settlements in the area to around 8,000 BC,  that is around 10,000 years from now.
A team of archaeologists and students of the Department of Epigraphy And Archaeology, Tamil University carried out excavation work in the University campus at Pillayarpatti from June 2015, with the permission from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and completed the work recently.
The site, measuring 5X5 square metre dug up to one metre, yielded valuable evidences to study the history of human settlements in the area. The laterite soil in the area contained quartz and chert stones. Artefacts made from these stones were also found.
“During the excavation, we found pointed tools such as arrows and scrappers used for scrapping fat from animals or the bark of trees, flakes, borers made of stones” V Selvakumar, Assistant Professor told Express. He pointed out that fossils of trees, probably of banana, were also found in the area.
Further, he claimed that since Pillayarpatti is at a higher altitude compared to Cauvery delta, the people in the delta plains might have seasonally migrated to Pillayarpatti during floods.
Similar migration might have occurred to nearby areas like Manojippatti, Tirukkanoorpatti and Punalkulam, Selvakumar pointed out the existence of an ancient stream near the excavation site and also an ancient rain water harvesting well nearby. “It is significant iron age tools, microlithic tools and tools from the end of paleolithic age were found in subsequent layers, ”he added.

Bible God's way to Slaughter Kosherly a Cow

How to Properly Slaughter a Cow Under the Kosher Method Shechitah

http://www.wikihow.com/Properly-Slaughter-a-Cow-Under-the-Kosher-Method-Shechitah
Shechitah (sheh-HEE-tah) is the Jewish ritual of slaughtering permissible land animals and fowl so that they are considered Kosher and are able to be eaten by Jews. Keeping Kosher is a very important aspect of Judaism because it benefits the mind, body, and soul; however non-Jews often consume Kosher meat because of the special process involved. Shechitah ensures the the animal is slaughtered so that it feels no pain, and also ensures the meat is of the best quality. It is a very difficult process, however, and it requires years of experience, a vast knowledge of biblical laws, and experience with the anatomy of the animal being slaughtered. While you will not be able to do this yourself, because of the training involved, you might want to know the processes so you can understand why the price is considerably higher.

Steps

  1. Properly Slaughter a Cow Under the Kosher Method Shechitah Step 1
    1
Select a knife (called a Chalif) of the appropriate size. The length of the blade is twice the width of the animal's neck.
    1. Properly Slaughter a Cow Under the Kosher Method Shechitah Step 2
      2
Thoroughly examine the animal prior to slaughter. If the animal is ill or injured, it is no longer considered Kosher. This has two purposes. First, it ensures the quality of the meat because an ill or injured animal should not be eaten anyway. Second, it provides a disincentive for Kosher farms to partake in the methods of other farms, because if the cow is hurt in any way, it cannot be slaughtered.
    2. Properly Slaughter a Cow Under the Kosher Method Shechitah Step 3
      3
Restrain the animal so that the slaughtering can be done correctly and painlessly. If the animal is injured during the restraining, it is no longer considered kosher.
    3. Properly Slaughter a Cow Under the Kosher Method Shechitah Step 4
      4
Inspect the blade of your knife. Make sure that there are absolutely no nicks or unevenness. The knife must be sharpened to such a sharp point that if the Shochet were to slice of his/her finger, he/she would feel no pain. [1]
    4. Properly Slaughter a Cow Under the Kosher Method Shechitah Step 5
      5
Cut the esophagus, trachea, carotid arteries, and jugular veins in one quick incision. The incision must not at all pull or tear. If done correctly, the animal will die within 2 seconds.
    5. Properly Slaughter a Cow Under the Kosher Method Shechitah Step 6
      6
Drain the blood of the animal completely. Eating blood is not Kosher, because the blood contains the soul of the animal.
    6. Properly Slaughter a Cow Under the Kosher Method Shechitah Step 7
      7
Examine essential organs of the animal. For mammals (cows, sheep, goats, etc.), make sure there are no defects. The lungs must be inflated to check for unwanted holes, and for signs of lung disease. If there are holes or signs of active lung disease, the cow is not considered kosher.
    7. 8
Remove non-Kosher parts from the hind quarters of the animal. These include the blood vessels and the sciatic nerve. As with the lungs, this only applies to mammals.
    8. Properly Slaughter a Cow Under the Kosher Method Shechitah Step 9
      9
Remove all fat surrounding the vital organs. Internal fat, known in Hebrew as "cheilev," is not considered Kosher.
    9. Tips

      • Stunning is against the laws of Kashrut, although it may be more humane to stun the animal before cutting.
      • By law, a Kosher slaughterer must be an honest, kind and upright man. A cruel person person cannot be a shochet.
      • A person must be trained and certified by special rabbinic authorities to become a Shochet.
      • There is no evidence that this method is more humane or less painful to the animal.
      • Although some people say that the reason that non-kosher animals are forbidden to Jews is that many of them are either scavengers or have some other anatomical property that makes them more susceptible to carrying diseases and parasites, the simple fact is that the laws of Kashrut are a supra-rational set of commandments given to the Jewish people, and any rational or scientific justification is done after the fact.
