A five-year-old girl was left in tears after she was fined £150 for setting up a lemonade stand in east London.Andre Spicer's daughter decided to sell cups of lemonade at the end of her street in Mile End, as hundreds of people were attending Lovebox festival in nearby Victoria Park. Four officers approached the girl and began speaking in technical legal terms, telling her that her lemonade stand infringed on local business rights.
Halfway through the interaction, Spicer said his daughter burst into tears and said “I've done a bad thing, daddy .I've done something wrong.“
The council said it was “very sorry“ and that its enforcement officers are expected to “show common sense, and to use their powers sensibly.“
