Bengaluru's construction ecosystem is heavily dependent on Tamil Nadu.
Around 60–70% of the city's aggregate requirement, a significant share of M-sand, P-sand, metal jelly, crushed stone, and nearly half of its construction aggregates are sourced from across the border.
With Karnataka's 400 RMC plants consuming close to 1 lakh cubic metres of aggregates every day, even a brief disruption can slow housing, commercial projects and public infrastructure.

Much of the skilled and semi-skilled workforce that builds Bengaluru's apartments, metros, highways and commercial complexes comes from Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam and other eastern and northern states. Without this workforce, the city's construction sector would come to a grinding halt
