The Bench of Justices G.R. Swaminathan and V. Lakshminarayanan made sharp oral observations. The judges also questioned: why temple funds should go to NBFCs instead of scheduled/co-operative banks, and whether the government was indirectly using temple funds for state financing. So we all know what happened and I think we all know how it going to affect the bandits Why this is becoming important This case could become a landmark one because it can define: how far the State can control temple surplus funds, whether temple money can be invested in state NBFCs, and what fiduciary standards apply to religious endowment assets.
