 திராவிடர் கழக (தி.க.) தலைவர் கி. வீரமணி, தந்தை பெரியார் குறித்து அவதூறான மற்றும் தவறான கருத்துகளைப் பதிவிட்டதாகக் கூறி ஒரு புத்தகத்தின் ஆசிரியர்கள் மற்றும் வெளியீட்டாளருக்கு எதிராக சென்னை உயர் நீதிமன்றத்தில் ₹1 கோடியே 1,000 நஷ்டஈடு கேட்டு மானநஷ்ட வழக்கு தொடர்ந்துள்ளார். [1, 2]

தவறான மேற்கோள்: அந்தப் புத்தகத்தில், "பார்ப்பனர்களை ஒழிக்க வேண்டும்" என்று பெரியார் கூறியதாக ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட பகுதி இடம்பெற்றுள்ளது. மேலும், அந்தப் பகுதி கி. வீரமணி அவர்கள் 1981-இல் தொகுத்து வெளியிட்ட பெரியாரின் ஆங்கிலப் பேச்சு மற்றும் கட்டுரைகளின் தொகுப்பான “Collected Works of Periyar EVR” என்ற நூலில் இருந்து எடுக்கப்பட்டது என்றும் அந்தப் புத்தகத்தின் ஆசிரியர்கள் குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளனர். பெரியார் குறித்த அந்த அவதூறான மற்றும் தவறான கருத்துகளைப் புத்தகத்தில் இருந்து உடனடியாக நீக்க வேண்டும்.

இந்த வழக்கை விசாரித்த சென்னை உயர் நீதிமன்ற நீதிபதி, சம்பந்தப்பட்ட புத்தக ஆசிரியர்கள் மற்றும் வெளியீட்டாளருக்கு இது குறித்து விளக்கம் கேட்டு நோட்டீஸ் அனுப்ப உத்தரவிட்டுள்ளார். [1, 2]

Dravidar Kazhagam Leader K Veeramani Moves Madras HC To Ban Book Defaming Periyar

The petition also seeks a ban on the publication and sale of the book and compensation of ₹1 crore for the alleged defamation. By ETV Bharat English Team  Published : August 22, 2026 

Chennai: Dravidar Kazhagam leader K Veeramani has approached the Madras High Court against the authors and publisher of an English book, alleging that it contains defamatory and misleading remarks attributed to social reformer Periyar E V Ramasamy.

The book, 'Delimitation and States Reorganization: For a Better Democracy in Bharat', has been authored by Gautam R Desiraju, Professor Emeritus, Indian Institute of Science and co-author Deekhit Bhattacharya and published by Blue One Publishing, Noida.

According to Veeramani's petition, the book allegedly attributes to Periyar a view that Brahmins should be "eradicated". Veeramani has claimed that the attribution is false and has sought legal action against the authors and publisher.

Veeramani, who is also the secretary of the Periyar Self-Respect Propaganda Institution (PSRPI) and headquartered at Periyar Thidal in Chennai, submitted that he had published an English compilation titled Periyar's Works in 1981, containing Periyar's speeches and writings. He claimed that the material attributed to Periyar in the disputed book does not appear in the compilation he published.

He alleged that the remarks were included with an intention to defame Periyar and sought their removal from the book.

The petition also seeks a ban on the publication and sale of the book and compensation of ₹1 crore for the alleged defamation.

During the hearing, Veeramani's counsel argued that the allegedly defamatory references to Periyar were included to serve the interests of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Centre.

The matter came up before Justice Govindarajan Thilakavathi of the Madras High Court. The court has directed authors Gautam R Desiraju and Deekhit Bhattacharya and publisher Blue One Inc. to respond to the petition. The case has been adjourned to September 9 for their responses.
