The Madras High Court on Thursday called for an explanation from the Director General of Police as well as the Greater Chennai Commissioner of Police after the Kilpauk police did not take stern action against a politician and his associates who had used abusive and filthy language in front of retired judge V. Parthiban who had been appointed as the administrator of Pachaiyappa’s Trust Board.

A Division Bench of Justices G. Jayachandran and K. Kumaresh Babu ordered both the officials must submit their explanation by January 30. The orders were passed after Mr. Parthiban wrote to the High Court on January 2 narrating the incident that transpired in the trust board office on December 23, 2025. The board’s counsel M.R. Jothimanian said, the police had so far not even registered a First Information Report (FIR).

It was brought to the notice of the Division Bench that the trust had rented out 965 square feet of its property at Tana Street in Purasawalkam, Chennai to R.M. Saravanan and his wife S. Banumathi. Since the couple did not remit the rent properly, the trust obtained a civil court order to vacate them. The trust secretary C. Duraikannu visited the property, along with the court staff, on December 19, 2025 to execute the court order.

During the visit, the secretary found the couple had illegally sub-let the property to another family on receipt of ₹11 lakh towards lease amount. Subsequently, the couple visited the trust board office along with a politician on December 23 and began hurling abuses in front of the retired judge of the High Court, Mr. Jothimanian said and produced video clips of the incident.

He said, the trust secretary had lodged a formal complaint with the Inspector of Kilpauk police station right on the day of the incident but the police had not taken any effective action till date. After perusing the video clips and also the retired judge’s communication, the Division Bench led by Justice Jayachandran took serious note of the issue and called for an explanation from the police officers.

They wanted the Kilpauk Assistant Commissioner of Police too to explain the alleged inaction.
