Today, there are no original Tasmanians alive as the British murdered everyone. It took less than 73 years from when the British settled in the Island before they wiped off the entire population. Aside from infecting them with diseases, the Tasmanian women were forcefully taken as concubines and their children kidnapped and used as servants. A price was set for the head of Tasmanians, 5 British pounds for an Adult and 2 pounds for a child. It was known as the price for “Catching Blacks”. They would bury a Tasmanian baby, leaving just the head visible then place a bet on who can "cut off" the head with single kick as if it were ball. They killed several Tasmaniann babies this way. After a visit to Australia, Charles Darwin, the 19th century British Biologist and Geologist said: "Death pursues the native in every place where the Europeans set foot.” Yep! Truganini, the lady in the picture below was the last true Tasmaniann.
