HR and CE department filed a police complaint against David Raja alleging he spread misinformation. He recorded and posted on social media a video of Narikuravar community children who claimed that Nellaiappar Temple staff denied them permission to partake in the free meal during former CM Annadurai’s death anniversary. Earlier, the department released an 8-min-12-sec video in which David is seen bringing four children towards the portion of the temple where the free meal was distributed, and staff seen telling something to him, following which he returned.

The HR and CE officials claimed that their staff told David that food distribution was over. “A total of 792 people had meals starting from 12.30 pm. Unexpectedly, more people arrived to partake in the meal at 1.45 pm. Hence, food prepared under the daily free meal scheme was distributed. The Samabandhi had concluded when David arrived with the children at 1.48 pm. Hence, David spread misinformation saying the food was denied,” the officials claimed.

However, David Raja disputed the department’s claim. “One of the children stated in my video that they were not allowed to partake in the free meal during their first attempt without any reason and were again denied entry when I brought them for the second time, citing food shortage. I seek the release of the entire CCTV footage, which might have captured the children’s first attempt to enter. My oral complaint to HR and CE Joint Commissioner Kavitha would have been recorded by another camera. Instead, the department selectively released only a portion of the footage,” he claimed.

Kavitha said that she would download and analyse the two-hour CCTV footage recorded during the Samabandhi.
