The Supreme Court on Wednesday directed the Tamil Nadu government to allot students for PG admissions to Christian Medical College Vellore for the academic year 2021-22 from the NEET merit list of students belonging to the Christian minority after counselling of the Selection Committee.

A bench of Justices Nageswara Rao and BR Gavai issued the direction on Christian Medical College Association, Vellore’s plea seeking the quashing of Selection Committee’s letter in which Tamil Nadu government sought to impose the state policy of reserving 50% of seats for UG and PG courses in CMC College Vellore. 

Before passing the order, the bench had asked the Additional Advocate General Amit Anand Tiwari, who was representing Tamil Nadu, to seek instructions on the allotment of seats for the academic year 2022. 

The AAG had submitted that the institution can fill 30% of the seats from their community (Protestant sect of Christian Community) and 70% would be allotted by the state on basis of the NEET merit list for the academic year 2022.

After the college was denied to agree with the interim arrangement, the bench went ahead with the hearing and passed the order.

புதுடெல்லி: மருத்துவப் படிப்பில் வேலூர் சிஎம்சி மருத்துவக் கல்லூரியில் இருக்கும் மொத்த இடங்களில் 50 சதவீதம் ஒன்றிய அரசின் ஒதுக்கீட்டுக்கு வழங்கப்படுகிறது. மீதமுள்ள 50 சதவீத இடங்களை கிறிஸ்துவ மத சிறுபான்மையினருக்கு கல்லூரி நிர்வாகம் வழங்கி வருகிறது. கிறிஸ்துவ மதத்தை சார்ந்த ஒரு பிரிவினருக்கு மட்டுமே இந்த இடஒதுக்கீட்டை கல்லூரி வழங்கி வருவதால் மற்ற தரப்பினர் பாதிப்படைகின்றனர் என்ற குற்றச்சாட்டு எழுந்தது. இதையடுத்து, ஒன்றிய ஒதுக்கீடு 50 சதவீதம் போக மீதமுள்ள 50 சதவீத இடங்களை மாநில மத சிறுபான்மையினர் பட்டியலில் தகுதியின் அடிப்படையில் அனைவருக்கும் பங்கிட்டு வழங்கும்படி கல்லூரி நிர்வாகத்தை தமிழக அரசு வலியுறுத்தியது.

இதை எதிர்த்து சிஎம்சி கல்லூரி சங்கத்தின் தரப்பில் உச்ச நீதிமன்றத்தில் ரிட் மனு தாக்கல் செய்யப்பட்டது.  நீதிபதிகள் நாகேஸ்வர ராவ், பி.ஆர்.கவாய் அமர்வில் நேற்று இது விசாரணைக்கு வந்தது. அப்போது, தமிழக அரசு தரப்பில் ஆஜரான கூடுதல் சொலிசிட்டர் அமித் ஆனந்த் திவாரி, ‘2021-22ல் தமிழக அரசு எடுத்துள்ள  நிலைப்பாட்டின்படி, முதுநிலை மருத்துவ சேர்க்கையில் 30 சதவீதத்தை கல்லூரி நிர்வாகத்தை சேர்ந்த சமூகத்திற்கும், மீதமுள்ள 70 சதவீத இடங்களை நீட் தகுதி பட்டியலின் அடிப்படையில் மாநிலத்தால் ஒதுக்கீடு செய்யப்படும்,’ என தெரிவித்தார்.

சிஎம்சி தரப்பில் ஆஜரான மூத்த வழக்கறிஞர் ஷியாம் திவான், எங்களின் முந்தைய விதிகளின்படியே முதுநிலை மருத்துவ மாணவ சேர்க்கையை நடத்த அனுமதிக்க வேண்டும்,’ என தெரிவித்தார். இதையடுத்து நீதிபதிகள் பிறப்பித்த உத்தரவில், ‘2021-22க்கான முதுநிலை மருத்துவ சேர்க்கையை நீட் மதிப்பெண் அடிப்படையில் நடத்தப்பட்டாலும், கிறிஸ்துவ சிறுபான்மையினரின் மாநில தகுதி பட்டியலை தயார் செய்து தமிழக அரசு கல்லூரி நிர்வாகத்திடம் வழங்க வேண்டும். அதன் அடிப்படையில் மட்டுமே சிஎம்சி நிர்வாகம் சேர்க்கையை நடத்த வேண்டும்,’ என தெரிவித்தனர். மேலும், விசாரணையை மார்ச் அல்லது ஏப்ரலில் நடத்துவதாக கூறி ஒத்திவைத்தனர்.
