A new petition led by Bharatiya Muslim Mahila Andolan (BMMA) lays bare the brutal reality of polygamy as practised today and demands a legal ban.
Their nationwide survey shows -85% of Muslim women want polygamy abolished -87% want it criminalised -79% were never informed about their husband’s second marriage -88% say husbands didn’t seek consent -50% of first wives were abandoned -36% received no financial support -47% were forced to return to parental homes -93% demand a complete ban to protect women & children. The survey data is unambiguous. The harm is overwhelming. And BMMA’s message is blunt.
